Brad: I know how close
you and your mother were. She told me many times. She just had something else
in mind for you.
Alex: What is this?
Brad: She wanted you
to open it when you're alone. Do you have a DVD player?
Alex: Yeah. It's in
the closet, next to the VCR and the butter churn.
Elizabeth: Hey, Bean.
Last week I was getting my affairs in order. I found this list. I know you were
only 13 when you wrote it, but it is a map toward your best self.
Garett: As a life
motivator, this is kind of genius.
Alex: Really?
Megan: "Go all
out in a mosh pit." "Play one-on-one with a New York Knick. Do
stand-up comedy." Walk me through that.
Jackson: You're not
funny!
Elizabeth: Every time
you check off something from the list, Brad is going to give you one of these
DVDs.
Alex: Are you kidding
me?
Alex: This is totally
crazy.
Zoe: But I trust your
mom.
Alex: It's like I've
fallen down this weird rabbit hole of family secrets...
Alex: Dad, you can't
just drop a bomb like that and walk away.
Alex: ...private
detectives. Becoming friends with a lawyer.
Brad: So, we're
friends now.
Elizabeth: Find true
love. Why do I have a horrible feeling you've given up on that one too?
Garett: So, you and
Alex?
Brad: You always talk
like there's something wrong with you. That's bullshit.
Elizabeth: Life is
beautiful and messy and complicated. Sometimes it doesn't look the way you
think it's supposed to look. Keep going.
Elizabeth: Okay, learn
to drive, get a tattoo, you can skip those. Please, dear God.
Alex: Oh, shit.
